Question Gas Tank Relocation
OK Guys;
I know this topic has been done over and over but here I go, I got a gas tank out of a 78’ Blazer it measures 26”x26” my question is can the two frame rails in the back be removed? And relocated ?

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
IMO, I would say no. you need those for structural integrity.

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
The front one, don't move and make sure you leave it angled. It's that way on purpose. The rear one you can move back. I did that on mine but make sure you have clearance for the bumper bracket bolts, if you are running a back bumper.
Looking at the frame length, it looks like you are a short bed. You are likely going to run out of room to move the rear one. Long beds have the advantage there.

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
On your truck it would be better to move the front crossmember. Since you have leaf springs, that rear one needs to be there, but the forward one is typically there to support the panhard bar, which you don't have.

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
Guys;
Thanks so much for the info, Chevy Mike was right no matter what I move this gas tank is to Big I decided to go with a BD Racing 20 Gallon Custom Aluminum Fuel Cell I found on EBay for $239. its 24x20 I'm sure I'll still have to move the one of the frame rails, but only maybe 3", as Captain fab suggested moving the front rail would be better, But will this reduce the integrity of the frame strength

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
As long as you just move that forward crossmember, you will be fine. If you were to just remove it, that could cause an issue.

Re: Question Gas Tank Relocation
Thanks for Captain seeing it was a leaf spring truck so knowing which crossmember could be moved.
