Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Dad and I started working on the paint on the ole GMC on Saturday. The first thing I noticed about this truck when I walked up to it is the orange peel. The paint is pretty decent on it but it looks like dry spray or maybe too much paint overall (?) The final coat looks heavy to me or it was just never buffed out.
I'm pretty particular when it comes to stuff like this. I won't be able to paint this one (at least not for a while) but I want to make it look as good as I / We can. I started the 1500 cut on Sat, just a little buffing on a wool pad / swirl remover on a light foam pad and it looks incredible. The passenger side bedside is coming out really nice. We're actually picking up some reflections now. We're just lightly wet sanding the peel off of it and man .. it is way better than I expected. I'm thinking maybe polished Coys now (?) .. we'll see I guess.
