1973-1987 Chevy Extended Cab
I was wondering if anyone out there who may own one of these would send me a couple of measurements. I am needing the measurement of the extension from the door pillar to the back of the cab, and the length of the roof panel from the front to back starting at the edge of the windshield molding to the back edge of the cab.
Is there any where on the web where there are specifications for the measurements on these trucks. We are in the process of building one of these and are in the process of gathering info. Thanks

Re: 1973-1987 Chevy Extended Cab
Sorry, Ive been slow. Work has had me jumping. Basically, measure your roof and add 18 inches. Thats basically what is added to the CVI conversions, but some of the others are shorter. If youre going to modify you own cab, I recommend adding a few more inches and stretching the frame. 18 inches is as far as you can go without having the fuel filler cap right at the back of the cab. If you have the skills to stretch the cab, the frame will be a peice of cake for you. Ive looked at taking a crewcab and actually taking a section out of the rear door area and putting it back together. That would give mnore structural integrity to the cab. Old door skins would take care of the body lines down the side of the truck and just leave you with a little area to build around the window area. Figure out what you want as far as seating in the back first, then modify the cab to fit. The CVI trucks only have small jumper seats in the back which is good for kids, nothing else.
