Transfer case help

Right now the truck is stuck in four wheel drive, I cant unlock the hubs or shift the transfer case. I have no slack in my drive line because my brakes are dragging, Im going to work on that tomorrow and see if I can get it unstuck.
Does this sound like the cause of the problem? Also, this is my first manual hub 4x4, does it matter what order you engage the 4x4? Hubs or transfer case first?

I have no idea what the gear pattern is on my transfer case but its stuck in the furthest forward position. Can anyone tell me the model and possibly the gear pattern?

What is this? I can rotate the square outside independently of the nut that is securing it to the transfer case. Is that normal?

The transmision is leaking from somewhere under forty years of grime
