restoring heater cables
i'm working on the heater on my 64,and i want to bring my cables back to life.they are a little rusty and have been sitting for awhile,any tips on lubes?,should i soak them in something?

PB Blaster or WD40 or equivelent. Dont use any grease or anything that will make dirt/oil stick. They should work free for you. Once you get them free, you might want to pull the wire out and wipe them down good.

White lithium will attract all sorts of dirt and debris. WD-40 is pure crap, I haven't owned a can of that garbage in 20 years. If they are not freely moving then first soak them in oil for several days to get them worked loose. After they move freely, clean off the oil and use a spray silicone, get the tube in the jacket and spray it in. That works good and doesn't attract all the crud that oils and greases will.

Spray them heavily and hang them up verticle for a day or two, wipe them off and install.

thanks got em working good.also i was really suprised to find out by accident that carpet cleaner does a great job cleaning up the little plastic window on the heater control unit.wish i had a b4 pic,you could'nt see anything accept paint splatter from the guy who had it b4 my brother.cleaned that up to.
