Truck plates

I was wondering on different years the plates were different colors. If you were to re-do the plates would you have to paint them the same color or could you go with another color?

Re: Truck plates

I know you are from TX but in Ohio the vintage plate must be a a very similar color that it was for that year. If blue, a very similar blue. I am not sure how hungry the police get on this.

Oh by the way, I have a very new set of 67 TX truck plates that I cannot use now back in Ohio.

Re: Truck plates

Well that answered my question. I have a 72 and the plates were white and green and I wanted to paint the green red. Oh well thanks

If you're wanting to use same-year plates,(67-68-69-70-71-71) they have to look like what was issued for that year. At least in Ohio that's the way it is. Have them on my 70 GMC.

Re: Truck plates

They will check them at the office and if they dont match whats in the book they will call austin for verification. Just spent over an hour two weeks ago waiting because one book for 67 said white with black letters the other said white with red letters. So the police arent as big of an issue as getting them approved at the tag office.
