Front end swap to 91

Hi all,
I was at the salvage yard the other day and came acrossed a 91 K5 blazer with a perfect front end. I always liked that look and wanted to sawp out my 86 front end. 'My question is what do I need from the k5 to swap front ends? I know I need the grill and headlights and radiator support. Anything else? Is this an easy swap?

Headlight/blinker plugs, you can wire them to your 86 harness.

Re: Front end swap to 91

Depending on your engine/air cleaner setup, grab the air cleaner assembly too.

It should be noted that this is a custom wiring install. The plug in the firewall and the lightbulb sockets are completely different, but everything is there to make it work.

Its a good saturday project for a newbie.

The last one I did was on a 87 to 89, both fuelie engines. I just changed the whole truck harness. 2 days start to finish, driveaway.

Re: Front end swap to 91

I just combined an 86 and a 91 harness. I separated out the brake light wire that goes down to the proportioning valve from the 86 harness. Then I cut about 18" of wire from the 86 plug. I matched up the location of the windshield washer pump wire and cut the 91 harness is the same location of the 86 harness.

The only other difference in the 2 harnesses is there is an extra light blue and dark blue wire...I soldered the 2 light blue 91 wires to the one light blue 86 wire. I did the same with the dark blue wire.

Re-loomed the harness and it is good to go!
