v6 305 hose ?

I'm trying to replace that little 2inch hose between the thermostat housing and the water pump. Do you have to take off the thermostat housing to replace that 2inch hose or can you change it without removing it? thanks

It's pretty short so I would say that you'll have to take off that water passage/manifold. It is only two gaskets and they are available in an intake manifold kit.

Depends on how good you are. I know on BB chevy if you bend the hose in the middle and you have to push it in both direction at the same time.

Re: v6 305 hose ?

Andy,

Yes, you have to take off the water bridge.

If you try to force it on, the TLOUC Rule will come into play. Whats the TLOUC Rule you ask?

What will happen is:
You'll slip and smash your hands into the carb. break a bone, lose the hose piece to the great beyond of the garage, break the hanging light fixture with your head when you jerk back from the broken bone in your hand, Thereby start cussing infront the kids and wife (get berated for that btw) , knocking the BEER over causing it to spill onto the newly lit cigar in the ashtray you placed on the fender, which slides off and scratches the paint, shattering on the floor and causing you to get glass in your feet, and blood on the floor. ALL becasue YOU FORCED IT!

So just like your girlfriend said way back when - dont force it!

This effect is called "TLOUC"

The Law Of Unintended Consequences.

And thus ends todays lesson students

And in case you're wondering if I've slipped a gear, no I just shared a goodly amount of Jack Honey and a Perdomo Cigar with a friend solving ALL the problems of the World in the past 2 hours -I can't feel my face is this a good thing?

Are the 351 intake gaskets the same as the 305's?

Re: v6 305 hose ?

I recently changed mine out with all new hoses. It wasnt a big deal but I did pull the Thermostat housing off and made the gaskets out of universal gasket kit. Took me all of 30 minutes to change them all and one freeze plug behind the starter.

Good Luck with yours!
