Aftermaket inner fenders and rad support fitment problem

Anyone seen a similar problem with fitment on these parts ? Everthing bolted up finger tight at the drivers side and seems ok (less the 1/4 gap between the rad support washer and pad),so here are some pice of passenger side with bolts finger tight and rad support at mounts finger tight.....not good.

If anyone can enlighten me ? Need length measurement of oem inners end to end for start, and also if this is a common problem ? I might take these back and look for some oem inners that I can repair.

This is the case most of the time. You will have to finess it together, alter holes and make changes for it to work.

In other threads it was mentioned that the inners were different lengths.

I think you better read my blog in this same section. It is called How do you fix this? Repo body parts. I have been down this street, and it's not a very nice ride. I still have a bit more to fix. Mine are TriPlus, and you will see some of the suprises you are in for on my blog.

Re: Aftermaket inner fenders and rad support fitment problem

I just pulled a set from pick-n-pull this week. If you run a tape along the outside edge, it's right around 35 1/2 inches. If you run a tape along the raised ridge, it's right around 36 1/2 inches. Hope this helps.

Re: Aftermaket inner fenders and rad support fitment problem

why can't you tighten the bolts up? the rad support has rubber washers, it should pull together. in the top picture the 3rd bolt down looks to have a washer and nut between the inner fender

make sure you run a measurement diagonally corner to corner to make sure inner and support are square to body and parallel.

Re: Aftermaket inner fenders and rad support fitment problem

The reason he can't tighten the bolts up, is because the lower backet in the front is already bottomed out. It has to be relocated for the rad support and inner to go together tight, with the bracket to be bottomed out also. It was the same on mine.

Please forgive me if it's a stupid question, but do you know if the cab is mounted too far back?

Nope, just picked up oem inner fenders and rad support, everything fits just fine.
Hands down ....,the aftermarket panels are junk. One of my bodyman buddies has some of these type panels in the corner of his shop...,he cuts 3"and 4" pieces out of them for patch work, that's all there good for.

Cheers,
Ed.

Re: Aftermaket inner fenders and rad support fitment problem

Wow-I bought an aftermarket fender 10+ yrs ago, sent it back. It's hard to believe they still don't fit-you would think in 10 yrs time somebody would figure out how to stamp them properly.

They aren't going to change the quality of the parts because too many people keep buying their parts the way they are.
