Do only Suburbans have panels on the seat backs?

I'm at the interior removal step of my teardown, and when I removed the seats I was a little surprised to see that the backs of the seats are naked to the world... as in there's nothing covering it and you can see all the foam.

I never saw it in normal use because I'm tall and always have the seat all the ways back, but you could see it if you put the seat forward.

Am I missing something (literally) or is that just the way they were?

Yep, that's stock. Only Subs had the skin on the rear.
I used to keep a .30-30 in a scabbard bunji-ed to the back springs of the seat in my stepside. That's probably illegal now.
