Dim dash brake light HELP!!
Has anyone experienced a dim brake light on the dash of their truck. I have a 2003 1500 HD and the brake light is dimly lit even when the keys are not in the ignition. I am guessing some type of sensor is grounded. Has anyone seen this before?? Thanks

Re: Dim dash brake light HELP!!
Yeah, the light is on whether or not the key is in the ignition. It seems to change brightness but will never completely go out. The truck is very clean, never driven in winter. this is irritating to me. the dealer wants to check brake fluid, brake pads etc. I am sure It has nothing to do with those. It seems completely electrical in nature.(sensor or such) I did notice a mouse nest in my relay box under the hood this spring but everything seems to be ok with the fuses etc. One of my buddies mentioned a wheel sensor with regard to a bearing??

Re: Dim dash brake light HELP!!
Its not any ABS related parts, The ABS light would be on to.
A sensor problem wouldnt explain the light on with the key off, Because it shouldnt get power. Let go a different way....Does the brake indicator do a bulb check? Should shine bright when the key is first turned on? Does it shine bright with the parking brake set? It is possible that the problem is inside the cluster. |
