cold start tick /noise

Hi, i told my wife i would post a question here about her truck. It's a 2002 Gmc sierra with a 4.3 v6 and with 120,000 miles on it. Problem is the truck lately has developed a tick/knock on start up after sitting alittle while couple hours to overnight get quiet after its warmed some. It sounds to me like the rockers are out of adjustment i don't mess with these models just old stuff so any help is appreciated.

Re: cold start tick /noise

It's completely normal for these LS engines. More noticeable in colder temps but it usually quiets down after 2 minutes of running.

Re: cold start tick /noise

The 4.3 is still a gen I based engine, not ls. I've never had any noise problems with 4.3s so im no help, maybe someone else can help..

Re: cold start tick /noise

I stand corrected sir. I am so used to hearing this question I missed the 4.3 size.
