v6 to SBC question
Are the motor mounts for the 4.3 V6 the same as the small block?

Re: v6 to SBC question
They should be the same. All of your accessories should swap over, too.

Re: v6 to SBC question
Not in an 86....
I just got done with the 4.3 to 350 swap on my 86 c10. Here's what I dealt with.... Go to boneyard and get L6/V8 frame pedistals for motor mounts to bolt to (V6 is different ) V8 motor mounts & clamshells ( V6 clamshells different ). The trans. can bolt up to the V8 Ok. Flywheel depends on whether you are running 2 piece rear main or 1 piece engine. If you run full length headers, the drivers side exits straight into the crossmember and you will need to get custom exh. None of my local custom muffler shops would touch it because they said that because I changed the engine, it did not conform to the factory emissions standards. Summit has a kit # WLK-89007 that fit like a glove. Took me about an hour to install it. I was able to reuse the pullies, brackets and stuff for the alt, PS, stuff. Throttle cable did ok as my 4.3 was a QJ. New radiator, then I ran a dual electric fan setup. Of course different hoses for cooling system Probably a few other misc. things I am forgetting. Re: v6 to SBC question
But let's say you're using the stock 6cyl exhaust manifolds---will it interchange with the v-8 stuff?

Re: v6 to SBC question
IIRC as its been about 8 years since i did this i was able to use my mounts but i had to buy the v8 Y pipe and use that with the stock exhaust from the 6

Re: v6 to SBC question
I guess it would be smart to just buy a used set of V8 mounts to avoid any potential trouble. Do you move the mounts to differnt holes when you do the swap or are yall positioning the V8 in the same spot the v6 was in?
