62 gmc v6 305 3/4 ton longbed 2wd to 68 chevy k20 4x4 swap
Howdy,i have a 62 gmc 3/4 ton 2wd with the 305 v6 and manual trans and want to convert it to 4wd, it has torsion front and coil rears. I can get a 68 k20 frame and drive train to swap with manualtrans and 327. I was wanting any advise to this swap as i would like to keep the v6. What is the best way to approach this swap both are long beds and so i would assume the wheel base is close. If anybody can give advise that would be great thanks.

I cannot advise on the swap but I am glad you are keeping the v6.

63 to 87 frame width in the front is the same and easy to convert but 60 to 62 is different. I believe the factory 4x4 for 60 to 62 used a different frame. look in the 60-66 forum some one posted a cl add for a 62 4x4 that was cheap.

Re: 62 gmc v6 305 3/4 ton longbed 2wd to 68 chevy k20 4x4 swap
I cant really comment on the 62 - 68. But i am currently underway on swapping my 1970 c10 to 4wd, and i picked up a 1972 4x4 frame for $500 (that was junkyard price, might be able to find one cheaper) but that way EVERYTHING swaps over real nice no need to mess around with tweaking anything. So I would look for a frame closer to the year you have.
