alternator, 105 vs 130 ?

I have an 02 silverado, that I am pretty sure is a 105 amp alternator(has a bearing talking to me). My parts truck is a 2000 GMC (full power), so I assume a 130 amp alternator. My ? is will they swap, with a belt change? both trucks have V8 engines. crazyL

Re: alternator, 105 vs 130 ?

Full power doesn't necessarily mean it has the bigger alternator. But I did the 130A alternator swap on my 01 (full power, 105A alt stock) when I added electric fans. The only thing you need is the longer belt, the rest bolts in and plugs in from those years. IIRC 05 or so they changed the plug on the alternator when they changed the electrical system to the RVC system. There is an RPO code in the glove box that determines 105A vs 130A alternator, as well as a stamp on the alternator itself. I do not recall the RPO codes offhand.
