I have a 67 chevy c10 truck we are building. I want to use the original wiring on it maybe patch up what need to be. The truck read that it originally had a 292 with three on three Over drive. We dropped in a rebuilt later 70's sbc350 with th350 trans. Will I need to get an ORiginal 67 alternator to work for the regulater. I think the Alternator I have now is from a corvette and has the internal reglualter so I dont want to fry my original or replaced regulater. I rahter not cut up the original wiring to convert to internnal. Give me some ideas I suck at electrical. I prob make no sense either haha.

Actually that really does help if i keep the internal regulater. Thanks a ton. That will save me some bucks.

On my 69 I converted to internal regulator and just left the regulator where it was. I did see years later where someone had a connector that you can just plug into the regulator connector. Maybe someone has the info on that.

I am thinkin I just might just buy an exteranl alternator and replacement regulater if needed. RIght now I have a internal regulater froma corvette 63 amp. But nothing is wired up to it yet. Its sitting up on passesger side of block. This was originally a 292 truck so I might have to add to the wiring? Alot of GREAT IDEAS HERE. THANK A TON FELLAS! What to do what to do.

Save that internal alternator.. Mine was a 250 three speed manual and I went to a 350/350. There really wasn't much wiring to change except the alternator and the HEI which required a new wire from the back of the firewall to the distributor. I disconnected but left the original distributor wire in the cable harness. Lots of good info and howto in the electrical faq section.
