73-87 will a 4" lift with 35's rub

I have a 4" lift and just got a pair of 35/12.5/15 inch tires for my '86 half ton 4x4. Was wondering if they would rub when steering or if they might hit fenders without cutting, thanks!

They'll more than likely rub. 4" and 33" is a perfect combo..... for 35" I'd go with 6".

They won't rub unless you're flexing and hitting a bump. You'll be fine. Lots of people do it and I think it looks great. 6" looks like too much lift for 35's, IMO. I only had to take a half inch of each bottom corner of my wheel well in the front to clear 38x15.50's on a 6" lift.

using an 8" wide wheel as opposed to a 10" wide wheel will help keep the rubbing to a minimum.

I agree with using an 8" wide wheel, as well. It looks better to me anyway, too.

This is the same set up I had and it would only rub occasionally, but nothing serious. And, that was with a plow on the front. However, I'm going with 16" this time around and cutting the front fenders (to avoid rubbing at all and just because I think the fenders look better cut).

Re: 73-87 will a 4" lift with 35's rub

I have 7" on my '86 with 35s on 10" wide rims & the front fenders are cut out cause they rubbed. 33 s work real good on 4" lift even with 10" wide rims. IMO the wider 10" rims look way better, especially on a 16 or 15" tire, lots of sidewall that way too.

Mine only do at full lock when turning left. It will be getting a body lift soon.

I am running 15x10 rims and 35x13.5 tires.

Re: 73-87 will a 4" lift with 35's rub

ive got 35's on 7 inch factory suburban wheels and only a 3inch body lift and wore stock springs and they will hit if you try but not daily driving, ive seen plenty of trucks with 35's 4in lift and 10's but there cutting it close but a little bit of a trim were the fender rolls under and your good unless your playing baja driver

Re: 73-87 will a 4" lift with 35's rub

i've got a rough country 6" lift with 35's on 15x8 wheels. no rubbing and i think it looks awesome. the only thing want to do differently is get some 10" wide wheels.

the rough country springs arent much rougher than the factory springs IMO.
