I need some opinions....

I can't decide if I want to buy the awesome CPP Tubular control arm set
Or if i should just use my stock stuff.

My truck stats are:
68 Long bed C20 (Originally) its a 5 lug now
406SB/400TH
2 1/2" drop spindles
3" drop coils
Factory 76 control arms from my dad's scraped truck
Rear is leafs (Removed a number leafs from the pack of 13 I think it originally had for current ride hieght and feel)
I plan on lowering the back more and I want the nose in the dirt, LoL.
See build http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=446257

Your input is greatly appreciated

Re: I need some opinions....

Same dilemma here. I want the tubular arms badly. But it's so much cheaper to rebuild the stock arms. I say go for it if you have the funds.

Re: I need some opinions....

I have the money but, if I do I won't be able to make it run right now. It'll be few months before I could muster up the money for the rest of what I need.
I hate not having a bag of money just lying around, LoL.

Re: I need some opinions....

i had a bag of money, but now all i have is a completed truck that am still doing stuff to just did rear disc conversion and wanting to do tube a arms, new trailing arms, etc. etc.
if you want to get it running do that first, it's not like you have to pull alot of stuff apart to change your a arms

Re: I need some opinions....

im gonna tell you right now get it running, cuz if you dont, you have a project that doesnt move and your more likely to get rid of it. ask me how i know, i got rid of a 71 elcamino that was in gorgeous shape because i was to worried about interior and body, i never made it to the engine bay and just lost interest. my truck runs but i still have stuff i want to do before i drive it. trust me, get the truck going, then do the other stuff. atleast it can move on its own and then get the money for the arms.

Re: I need some opinions....

First make it run and drive. Then make it run and drive "better". But running and driving with stock control arms beats the hell out of sitting and waiting.

Besides, unless they actually allow you to achieve some mythical stance that you can't achieve with factory control arms, you're not doing the Nurburgring...

I agree with the last couple posts, get it running. It much more fun doing a weekend project on a running driving vehicle, more motivation that way.

Here's your answer. If your short on project funds those tubular arms should be at the very bottom of your list of things to buy.

Make it a runner first, then when you get more money, in my humble opinion, forget about the CPP stuff and go with Porterbuilt Fabrication.

I also agree with others. Get it running first!!

To answer your question, though. I won't spend any more money at CPP. I've had 2 dealings with them that wasn't all that great, and I don't feel as if their products are high quality as other companies.

If I were going tubular, the only 2 companies I will consider is Porterbuilt or Hotchkis.
