Glove box insert

Has anyone seen an insert for the glove box door that makes it look like a dash bezel with the black texture finish.

I seem to remember a tech article in Classic Trucks magazine years ago) and the truck they used had one?

The glove box door also had the outer area chrome so it matched really nice.

The '67's had a textured glove box door. There is a picture of one in this for sale thread...

Re: Glove box insert

My truck had chrome glove box door so I ordered some wrinkle paint from the Eastwood Company and sprayed it and the ashtray ( it was chrome too) and it matches the gauge surround panel exactly. I can post some pictures from home tomorrow if you want to see it.

Re: Glove box insert

Well not an insert but I think this is the look you are going for, here is my 72 K/5 with a chrome plated gb door with the black wrinkle paint (like mentioned above) treatment on the center area. Mel

Re: Glove box insert

black wrinkle paint is available in most all autoparts stores a heck of alot cheaper than getting it mailorder// it works best when cured with the heat from a heat lamp/spotlight or just a 100watt bulb in a reflector 10-12inches away

I dont, it was in with a bunch of parts (bumpers, shifters, boot rings, ashtray, glove door, hatch handle and some misc. brackets) that were all taken in together and chromed as a group/lot, and it was years ago. Mel

Re: Glove box insert

Here are the pics of my truck. You can buy a glove box door already chromed from LMC Truck and I'm sure there are other vendors that them too.

Thanks for the info, I knew someone would have the answer.
I will look into getting a chrome one from a vendor and painting it.

Re: Glove box insert

Maybe that was what I saw in the Classic Trucks magazine article, that was the first time I saw it and thought it really gave the dash a symetrical feel.
