Re: My 67
Yeah, now I just gotta figure what I wanna start working on next. Engine or body work? Neither sound fun and both sound expensive. I just hate how dirty it is after 40+ years of wear and tear

Re: My 67
Yeah, truthfully I wanna go for a satin black paint scheme. So, the blacking out the engine bay would make sense for sure

Re: My 67
Truthfully I want to paint it all more of a richer red, or maybe w/e the red looked like in the beginning and offset it with black.

Re: My 67
if my cab was original red i would probably CLR it and then clear coat it, the floor i would paint a really nice black paint and a nice primer, after all the carpet is gonna cover so it doesnt have to have the original paint.

Re: My 67
There's some rust that needs fixed in the lower kick panel and I noticed that there's some grime that's covering the creases where the windshield weather stripping rests against the dash. Thinking the windshield needs popped out and everything cleaned and resealed

Re: My 67
thats a very wise thing to do.... plus any 44 year old rubber should be replaced.... thats one thing these repo guys do good on is all the weather stripping, grommets and gaskets.

Re: My 67
These are some pictures I've taken since having the windshield removed and having a new gasket put in as well as needing to replace the carb which lead to needing a new intake manifold. Check out the canister that's on the inside of the block where we believe it should've been connected to the oil bath breather but was instead connected to the back of the stock carb.

Re: My 67
Well, today is the first day for snow to fall so I ended up pulling the truck into the garage for the winter. Money is tight, as always, so I won't be doing anything immediate to it. The future plans are to C-notch the frame and put lowering blocks on it as well a different exhaust system. RIght now the exhaust lays 1" off the ground and mild bumps leave it scraping and throwing up sparks. I've got a donor exhaust system out of another 69 that'll give me two straight pipes and two mufflers...so all I'll need to do is buy me some new headers.
We've replaces the intake manifold, carb, dist cap, ignition coil, plugs, fuel pump, belts and new valve covers, gaskets and air cleaner. So, the engine is a 1/3 new...if only I had the money I'd pull it out and do a rebuild on the rest of it! Here's some pictures for now! |

Re: My 67
Wow! Absolutely love this truck. The rims, caps, WWW's, Red Guts, lowering....everything is spot on PERFECT. I know it's your truck, but I honestly feel the satin black thing has been way overplayed. The natural patina you're rollin' right now looks soooooo much better IMO. Anybody can squirt on some Hod Rod Flatz, but only a few can pimp the original paint and yours is pimpin' for sure!
