Need help!!!
Yesterday I was helping my friend do some work on his truck. We changed the pushrods covers on his 75 GMC L6 250. We had to remove the distributor cap to get to the front cover. Did not remove any wires or the distributor. We also changed out the fuel filter and oil. Now the truck wont start and is spitting the fuel and smoke back up out of the carb. Initial thought was that the distributor cap was back on wrong but checked that and it's fine. All wires are correct for the firing sequence. Distributor cap is old and pretty corroded. Would this create the issue.

Re: Need help!!!
did you loosen the distributor ? also check for anything in the distributor. if the cap is in that bad of shap,it wouldn't hurt to replae it. and don't forget about the rotor under the cap. it really sounds like it's out of time.
