Transfer case identity
can some one help me track down where to find info on 67 1/2 ton transfer cases. I am having trouble figuring out which one it is

If it is the oem original it would be a Rockwell T221... if you could post a picture of it would help to confirm

You are so correct. with that name I was able to find pictures of it and ID it positivley.are they a good transfer case? I have not heard of them, only their 2 1/2 ton axles.

The rockwell t221 is a good gear driven transfer case, just as stout as the NP205 in my opinion. The only drawback is the avaliablity of parts for them. I have a 221 in my 69 that came out of 67. It was a ranch truck and was used hard its whole life. I recently had the tcase out of the truck and checked out the bearings and shafts and everything looked great for being 45 years old. Unless yu need too, I wouldnt change it out.

I have pics in my 68 build thread...
good, but noisy, t-case that needs to stay full of oil to avoid bearing failure.

so far mine is quiet with 135k miles on it , seals are leaky, so I will try to find new ones to keep it all together.
