cab gas tank

ok I have never had this before so I will ask !!!
I emptied the rotten gas out of my gas tank and it felt like there was a bag of sand in the tank ??? I took the sending unit out to find that there are about a dozen or so square pads in the tank? .Is this to stop the sloshing in the tank ? Never seen this before so I figured I ask . oh and can you get just the filter screen on the end of the pick up tube ? thanks for any replies to this post

Re: cab gas tank

The dealer wont have a fricking clue. There is not suppose to be anything in the tank but gas and the pickup/sending unit. Clean all that s---t out and order a new in tank line screen from golden state part's #9-75sc and you are good to go.

Wondering if someone was trying to soak up water in the fuel tank by putting those in. I've heard that the pad will only absorb water and not fuel. Of course you should have fished them out afterwards!

Kids could have put them in too.
