Re: Is this clutch pedal rod suppose to be bent?

Sorry I can't help with a better answer than this. Mine is like that also. It too is rubbing along the firewall hole. It got so bad, that it began to wear the rod, and the firewall. Made me so crazy I swapped out the bell crank w/ one I found at the junkyard that had an offset arm. When I connected the clutch rod, it brought more into the center of the firewall hole. Sorry I can't be more helpfull.

I do not remember mine being bent when I took it apart, but that was many years ago..

IIRC, I6 clutch rods have very slight bend. V8 rods have a pretty good bend to them after they exit the cab. I'm going to guess you have a I6 rod turned into a v8

This is what a V8 clutch rod looks like.

Re: Is this clutch pedal rod suppose to be bent?

Yep! Looks like mine. You might try "flipping" it. Put the end that is currently on the bell crank/ Z-bar and flip it to where it is now on the clutch pedal arm/shaft. I have tried mine like that as well. I have 3 of them that I have pulled from the junk yard. All of the them have some serious wear issues. Some actually fit better backwards. My current one in my truck is also rubbing a hole into my firewall. I just keep putting some grease on it just so I don't hafta hear the grinding noise.

I would love to get a brand new one. I bought one years ago from LMC but it is a straight one. No curve to it.

Would a clutch rod from a 73 up work?

Re: Is this clutch pedal rod suppose to be bent?

idk but I just removed my clutch assembly if you want it, 67 original 283/3ott. I'll look at it this eve to see how much bend it has and the condition.
