Where can I get them?

Where can I get front and rear shock bolts for my 81 Chevy? I'm talking about the ones on the frame. I bought new Monroe shocks but they didn't come with them and the ones on my Chevy were so gone I had to torch them off. Can I just get them at Napa or O'Reillys?

You should be able to get them at NAPA,or CarQuest. I've bought them separately,before.

Re: Where can I get them?

i got 3.5 in long 5/8ths bolts from lowes with two nuts and washers for each bolt. one of those set ups on each corner of my truck. the shank of the bolt is the perfect lengh for me to sandwich the shock with a washer on each side and tighten down the first nut on the threads and leave enough play on the shock. simply side that through the hole in the frame and tighten down the second nut with the factory lock washer installed and wam bam your done.

Re: Where can I get them?

Thats odd... I used to sell Monroe's and they used to come with the shock... Maybe they are cutting back to save $$$.

Re: Where can I get them?

I replaced my front shocks about six months ago and they came with all the frame mounting hardware but not the bottom bolt/nut for the control arm.

Re: Where can I get them?

This weekend I'll have to check the parts stores. I thought it was odd that they didn't come with anything else but oh well.

I'd check a website that sells them and see what bolts they're supposed to have then go do what sethv said.

Re: Where can I get them?

Re: Where can I get them?

Frame bolts should be packed with all the Monroe shocks. For the fronts; p19 parts pack which has the frame "bolt". (the lower is a standard bolt so you don't get that one).
You can double check whatever shock it is you got at;
http://www.monroe.com/catalog/e-Catalog

Go back where you bought it and see what they come up with. Worst case, return them. And buy them somewhere else and start doing what I do (after the same inconvienince you are going through), open them up in the store to make sure everything is in the box (and correct part pack) before paying for them.
