5 lug choices?

This is my first post on here. I just bought a 1965 SWB custom trim truck and want to go 5 lug on it because there are more choices in wheels and 6 lug wheels look weird to me. I'm 18 so I'm on a budget. I was told by a guy at the junkyard to put a 73 c10 rear end in and it would work great with a little fabricating.

What have you guys put on your trucks or what is the best way to go that won't cost too much?

Re: 5 lug choices?

Welcome

Yes, swapping the front and rear off a 73-87 c10 will be the most economic route.
Lots of threads here on that.
Start in the FAQ's for the 60-66 trucks.
The biggest job will be welding trailing arm perches to the 73-87 axle.
Most here recommend finding a 73-87 donor, and get all the goodies. Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, and more.

Welcome to the forum

I agree, there is a ton of info to be found in the 60-66 FAQ section. It can be found at the top of the page.

Re: 5 lug choices?

Thanks guys!

will the width different in the rear ends cause a lot of trouble?

Re: 5 lug choices?

That partly depends on how wide of wheels you plan on running. The increased width can be compensated for with the correct wheel backspacing.
