Vacuum line help

Trying to clean up my vacuum lines as they are all falling apart. I have attached a pic and am wondering if you need that moulded black thing (orange arrow) and the connectors (green arrow) or can the line rund right out of the grey tee and into the spot they go?

Orange arrow: no, you can just connect the hoses directly to the thermal vaccum switch but the molded connector sometimes is nice so as to be sure each hose is connected correctly next time they are disconnected....

Green arrow: Depends. If you still have to emissions test your truck, then yes keep it. If not, then no, you can remove it. It is a spark delay valve for the vaccum advance on the distributor....

Wow Thanks for that,I would have never know that the green arrow did anything at all and was a spark delay valve. I do not have any emissions crap anymore-no egr,vacuum canister,etc, So that can be removed and a hose run straight to the vaccum advance?

Is that moulded connector available anywhere? The one I have now has 4 coming off it but 1 is already pluged and 1 of the other ones just looks to loop back to itself. I think I could get by with a connector that had 2 coming off it

Since I do not have any emissions testing in my area. I ran one hose off of the intake manifold and put the connections for the vacuum hoses on my firewall and cleaned up the engine a lot.

Yes, you can remove it and run the hose directly to the dist. As far as the connector, not sure if they are still available. I'd just connect the hose(s) directly to the thermal vaccum switch...

I am wondering if you could get those hose new too. If anyone has a part number they could post.

If you're motivated you can make disposable molds and cast them out of Devcon Flexane or similar Castable Silicone or Urethane. "Medium hard" 40-60 durometer is what you're looking for. You can get these chemicals in small lots from McMaster Carr. I've done this with "out of production" small rubber parts that had hardened up. Don't expect "Professional" looking results on your first try but you can probably get serviceable parts after a couple tries.

I think I will just get rid of the tvs all together.

What can the vaccum advance hose go to without that??
On the carb??

got everytning done today and am no longers using th tvs
truck runs better than ever!
Just need to swap out the inlet now for a non-tvs one maybe go chrome

my truck does have smog pump or egr valve conected,can i take off vacuum canister?truck only gets saftey inspection.

No ,it's a small cap like for the diff to keep dirt out, bolt it where the can was

most parts places will have them
