WTB 3 on tree chrome shifter handle

Looking for a nice chrome handle to put back in column. Need retaining pin as well. PO converted to floor back in 1982 according to paperwork i found in glovebox. All he did was remove the flat bar levers off the side of the transmission and left them hanging on the shift rods. It appears everything is still tight with no wear to speak of so I want to give it a shot.

Let me know whatya got including shipping to 21826

Thanks
Richard

Hey Richard, just an FYI to maybe save you some grief while on the hunt, as you wouldn't know or realize it until a deal was struck and or you got it in the mail. You may want to add what year truck or what year the column is, I am not around my parts books right know but am fairly confident in saying that there were three different column shifters used on the three speeds, 1st. type was 67/68, 2nd. type was 69/70 and then the 71 type. Good hunting, Mel.

Thanks for the info Mel. I assumed they were all the same. It is for a 72 blazer

Re: WTB 3 on tree chrome shifter handle

I would also assume at this point that the columns from pickups are same as Blazers, only year makes difference?

Re: WTB 3 on tree chrome shifter handle

Good question Richard,

I'd be interested to know as well because I'm doing the same thing you are....restoring the 3ott.
I also wanted to tell you that I'm currently in Tucson Az (for work) and I've called and been to 5 junkyards with no luck finding a shifter...one fella said if he did have one he would only sell the whole column but he didn't have that either. I thought I was going to easily find a bunch here and was going to offer to send you one but none to be found, it seems.

Good luck,
Rob.

Thanks for thinking of me. I figured this would be an easy find but it is proving me wrong. I am going to pull one out of my spare automatic column either tonight or tommorrow night and I will let you know if it works out.

Yes, the same shift lever was used on both the 3 spd/column shift and the std./non-tilt automatic columns per years of application as listed above in post #2. Just figure out what year your column originally was and then find another non-tilt auto or three on the tree column within a year of yours (67/68 or 69/70 or 71/72) and pull the shift lever. Mel

Once again thanks Mel. This will save me some time since I have an extra 72' automatic column here. I may still search for a handle to replace it with but at least it won't be as pressing.

Richard

Re: WTB 3 on tree chrome shifter handle

Pulled the shifter handle out of my extra A/T column and Mel is correct, works on the 3ott column. Thanks again Mel I would have never guessed them to be the same.

Mel,
One other question, any idea where I might source a new holding pin for the shifter? It was pretty buggered up and I would rather not use it again. Is this something you might have? If so shoot me a price with shipping to 21826. Thanks
Richard

Rob,
If you end up needing to buy the whole column in order to get a shifter forum member Dujobo did have a couple of them in his blazer parts thread FYI LMC also has just the handle listed but I don't think the black knob on the end is correct style for our trucks. looked to be about $30 plus ship

Richard
