Question 1966 c20 - width of rear axle?

Howdy fellas.

I got this email from a fella in Sweden... so I thought I'd throw it out to ya'll. I've been poking around in my shop manuals, but I have not found the dimension yet... but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Hi,

I read through your page about your truck, so I was hoping you maybe have the width of the rear axel, backing plate to backing plate. Iīm about to make some changes on my C20 so I donīt have the width on a regular rear end.

Grateful for any reply.

Thank you!

----

I told him about this place and some other forums, so maybe he will join up.

I can get the WMS to WMS of a HO52 rear differential tomorrow.

Re: 1966 c20 - width of rear axle?

That first link shows a incorrect width for the '64-'69 GM truck differential.

The '63-'early '70 12 bolts are 62" WMS to WMS.

The HO52's are a little wider, but I don't remember exactly what they are. I'll have to look it up in my notes at the shop. I wrote myself a note, so I wouldn't forget to get that measurement tomorrow, like I did today.

Re: 1966 c20 - width of rear axle?

According to my info the HO52 in the '63-'66 C20's is 65.5" WMS to WMS.
