S10 Gas Tank?

Anyone using the gas tank from a mid 90's (1995) S10 Blazer 2 door. These are different from the S10 pickup tanks which appear to be a saddle tank arrangement. I have a 55 (2) suburban and the saddle tank would be great, but I don't think it would fit where the stock tank is.

I have seen a couple of the Blazer tanks mounted in the rear where the spare tire would be. I am installing a 5.3 and am thinking I can install a Walbro 255 in tank pump on the S10 sending unit. Anyone know if this is true?

leave the stock tank if your using the stock dash and just use a inline electric fuel pump, much less headaches.

Thought about that, but don't want to put up with the noise of an external pump, and the stock tank is a saddle type and without it I have more room for exhaust system.

Re: S10 Gas Tank?

Im looking to do this as well on my 57 3100. Went to the yard yesterday and all they had were 4 dr Blazer that had the side tank. Lot of guy on the 88-98 boards use the Blazer tanks cause its an easy fit and hook up. Im also planning a 5.3 so I'll post up some pics once I run across one.

Re: S10 Gas Tank?

What are you going to use for a fuel pump? I think they changed pump styles in 96 on the S10's. I was looking at a 95 S10 fuel tank and then modify the existing pump with the Walbro 255. The 96 and newer pumps are the bucket style.

I was going to get a used tank, but Rockauto.com has the 2 door tanks new for as low as $70.

Re: S10 Gas Tank?

I used the 2dr blazer tank with my 5.3. Just made straps out of steel and welded in a crossmember in front of it. 25 bucks for a tank with pump and level sensor at the salvage yard.

Re: S10 Gas Tank?

Yoder, do you know what year the blazer was? Did it have the bucket type pump?
