Re: Radiator and fan shroud question

I don't know about the radiator, but we put a '73 BB fan shroud in my '71 when we put the '73 454 in it.

It did require a little modification of the shroud to get it to clear the crankshaft pulley and the alternator on the passenger side.

Re: Radiator and fan shroud question

Also, from what i've read, the fan blades need to be half in & half out of the end of the shroud.
Do you have the 6 cyl shroud which is just on top?

I have always heard the same thing, that the fan blades need to be half in and half out of shroud opening.

Re: Radiator and fan shroud question

I have fixed many an overheating problems by repositioning the fan at about half in and half out of the shroud. This allows the fan to pull all the air through the fan shroud which is through the radiator, which cools the engine better. If the fan is too far in the shroud it will cabotage the air and if it is too far out of the shroud it will pull some of the air from outside of the shroud.

Re: Radiator and fan shroud question

What modifications have been made? When does it overheat?

A stock setup shouldn't need anything special. If it's overheating, something is likely broken.
