70 gmc lowering help!!

I have just purchased a 70 gmc c10. I am new to the forum, have been reading up on different ways to do it, just wanted some input.

It has drum brakes and rear leafs. I am thinking of flipping the rear leafs, what i have read that gives me a 5" drop.

for the front i was going to keep the drums for now and put 3" drop coils in.
Any thoughts on this would be very helpfull thanks.

Re: 70 gmc lowering help!!

You will need sorter shocks if you drop 2" or more. A 3" spring will be a pretty rough ride, you may look to get that other 1" somewhere else. I used a notched lower A-arm (move the lower ball joint up) to gain extra space with my 2" spings.

Figure on a 6"-7" drop in the rear with a flip and you will most likely need a notch if you want any kind of travel in the rear.

Keep on Truckin'
