hello board, just wanted to asked a quick question just found one of the thin chevy tailgate band will they fit the 1986 tailgate thanks

Those will not. But you have a rare one there with the yellow on it. You will need to change to a 70s tailgate and latch setup.

I believe the yellow is 77 only, hard to find.

That is a Cheyenne tailgate band for a 1977. They yellow/gold inay stripe was specific to 77, and the smaller size exclusive to the Cheyenne package.

thanks guys for the info so if i choose to use it i will have to find a 77 tailgate then.and will a 77 tail gate fit my truck it's an 86 thanks .

You will have to find a tailgate from 80 on down, then it will fit no problem. and yes the tailgate will fit your truck mite have to get the whole set up off the older truck and put on yours

you need a 76-80 tailgate and yes it will bolt up. The 73-75 gate will work but you need the brackets off the bed.
