AutoMeter Gauges what size? 2 1/16 or 2 5/8 ?

Hey guys I'm getting close to being able to put my truck on the road but first I want to make sure everything is reading properly. New gauges are required!

I'm using the stock bezel for my 1981 Chevy and I want to use the Auto Meter Sport comp gauges with 5" speedo and Tach.

Which size oil, temp, voltage, and fuel gauge do I need? I've seen guys use the 2 5/8" gauge but they had to cut their bezel.

I saw another guy use the 2 1/16" gauges and he said he didn't need to cut the bezel at all and that they fit right in.

More than likely I'm going to be ordering me a set of brackets as well.

So help me out here guys. Once in for all what size should I get before making my order?

2 4/8" or 2 1/16"

Thanks guys! Trying to make it to heat wave this year!

I don't like the way those 2 5/8 ones turned out... but it says the 2 1/16 are too small. If you read more into it, it gives this link to a really good thread:

I used the 2-5/8 in mine, but I used the billet alumnium cover to mount them in over the stock bezel, you have to cut it up quite a bit to mount the gauges.

Here's a few pics.

Re: AutoMeter Gauges what size? 2 1/16 or 2 5/8 ?

It was all ordered separate, the gauges and wiring kit came from Jegs, the billet pieces came from LMC.

If you do these gauges definately get the wiring kit for our year trucks with it, it's about 120 buck I think and saves a ton of time and headaches.

Everything is color coded and good step-by-step instructions. Any help ya need if you go this route feel free to ask along the way!

I don't mean to sound dumb here, but how does the speedo work?

I forgot to add that I want them to look stock. That is pretty much why I was asking if the 2 1/16 fits better. I thanks for all the feedback guys. I lost a lot of those threads when my computer got wiped out.

I can't decide if this would be bothersome, but I love the look...What do y'all think?

2 1/16" look a tad better from behind, in the stock location. If you get Ultralight 2's, I have the brackets you need.
