Max c-notch hight wihout make a hole in the bed?

How high can i do the C-notch in the frame without have to make a hole or notch the bedline on my 1980 C10?
I want to go as low as possible without make any changes in the bedline.
The bed i have on my work fore some new paint jobb so its hard to mesure or try out the setup...

My rearend settup will be 4-link on Firestone F9000 bags. The axel is an 12-bolt and the rims will be 15".

Im hope someone here have done the same or know the answer!

A standard bolt-in c-notch is typically less than 3" max of additional clearance. Anything more than that & the rear-end hits the floor.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Welcome to the forum kellegubben. Scoti is correct that all you need is a small notch. Anything more and your going to have to cut or raise the bed floor.

Re: Max c-notch hight wihout make a hole in the bed?

Since your from Sweden the bolt in notch might not be your best choice due to availability. I had a shop build one for my 77 that works just fine. They used a section of pipe for the C and boxed the frame in for support.

Re: Max c-notch hight wihout make a hole in the bed?

Good and helpfull answers with pics and all, NICE!

grs : Thanx! Can you bottom out yours to the bump stops without hitting the floor?

N2TRUX : Thanx! Im also going to box the frame. How the F9000 bags (if it is?) working? What presure are you running?

I found this info on the forum surfing around today, intressting!

I think im going to box the frame and notch about 3" with a 3/16 steel plate made like this /----\ and parhaps a reinforcing pad. Then as i mention erlier, adjust the higt with some bump stops.

Re: Max c-notch hight wihout make a hole in the bed?

kellegubben that was my old air ride system commonly refereed to as an "air over leaf" or AOL system. It worked very well and rode great. What we found was it had a sweet spot at around 50 pounds while cruisin the highway. Anything less and it was too soft.

If you build a notch based on the info in that FAQ thread linked, you should be fine.

Here's what I am currently running. The travel is restricted by bumpstops and shocks. I plan to take it lower once I pull the bed and replace the shocks.

I never thought about the rear end hitting the bed floor. I just looked , and it looks like the rear end is about 3 inches from the bed floor. I don't plan to haul anything in it tho. I could always cut a section out of the bed floor to prevent that from happening. I do think it would hit the floor if hauling something heavy in it. Here is a pic of the truck. I may be selling it, but I am not sure.

Re: Max c-notch hight wihout make a hole in the bed?

N2TRUX : I think so to, it looks like a serius test! The 4-link looks sweet, will surly performe better then the leafspring to! Im currently looking for some nice pivot bolts for mine, Found this ones that looks good! http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...nt_p_1636.html expensive as hell!

Ill allso have to multiply the price by around 13 for to days currency, fees, and custums to gett a price in swedish currency... Ex : 54$ X 13 = 702skr = 100,83$ a PICE!!!

grs : Thats a nice truck! Like the white, makes it look so clean! And thanx fore looking and shering your info!
