Project "Charlotte" - 1964 LWB Stepside

I finally found my dream car recently on Craigslist. The PO did most of the heavy lifting, so it makes my job much easier (although I feel like I missed out on a lot). The truck was in really rough shape when he got it (I have pictures) but he cut out all the rust and welded in new metal. He also put in a new 350 and 700r4 transmission. As you can see, he was going for a hot rod orange, but it's a little flashy for me. I want to make it look as stock as I can with a few upgraded parts like disk brakes and shoulder belts and things like that. I haven't settled on a color yet. I love the original blue with white top color scheme, but I've recently fell in love with all the patina pictures. If I could find someone around St Louis to paint the whole truck like the tailgate that's on it now, I'd probably do that.

It certainly is. I got the bed strips and hardware in today. Went to Lowe's and got the composite deck wood, so I hope to get that in this week if it doesn't rain like is forecasted.

Re: Project "Charlotte" - 1964 LWB Stepside

Got the bed in over the last two days. I already got the bed strips and hardware in before I realized someone welded all the cross stills in and not in the right places. The easiest way to get it all done was to drill new holes and put the bolts in from the bottom, with the nuts and washers on the top of the bed strip. It works and I'll be using my bed to haul stuff so I don't need it to be perfect. I'll probably go in some time much later and clean it up but it works for now.
