Cool Drove my 66 for the first time in 2 years yesterday

Finally got the truck back together and in drive able condition. Started just driving it around the family property. Going through the 3 speed just to make sure everything is good. Wash off the mildew off it and did a test drive to the gas station for some 93.

Well I jumped back in the old truck and she didnt want to idle, so gave it some more throttle and went back home. Then on the way back it felt like it wasnt getting any fuel with the secondaries (double pump holley).
After some thinking and talking to my good buddy. It ended up being me not installing the fuel filter on the thing.

I guess all the crazyness with buying a new home and selling the old one, plus busy at work; I was just worried about getting the truck up and going.

Looks like I'll be pulling the carb off this week to clean the trash out of it, plus some other little bug fixing.

Anyways I'm just happy to drive it again. Felt like I was back driving it in high school.

I'll have some photos to post up tomorrow.

Congrats on the shake down run. You'll have it back out in no time.

Outstanding! That’s right up there with firing up a new engine for the first time. Good to hear nothing major went wrong. Looking forward to the photos.

Re: Drove my 66 for the first time in 2 years yesterday

heres some photos as promised
the "66 and the "84
well I figured out on my "66 I have a vacuum leak somewhere. After my little run down the road it started running ruff and won't idle under 1000 rpm. Checked all the hoses, sprayed carb cleaner to try to find the leak and nothing. Not really sure where its at; my carb is about 7 years old, and I did a rebuild it. Might be a intake leak, but ;leaning towards the carb, not really sure.

I really cant wait to drive this thing with it running like a champ.

also going to lower the rear some more this weekend

If you have an automatic transmission, make sure to check the vacuum line to the modulator. It may have come off and wouldn't be noticed without looking for it.
