Question Any verdict on "new-tooling" repro fenders

Vendors seem to believe the new repro fenders ( for example Goodmark) are a huge improvement. I wonder if anyone has tried them and what the results were. I didn't hear anything good about the old ones so I'm hoping for some positive news.
I hope this hasn't been discussed already but my search isn't functioning.

I recomend that you look for some oem fenders. I tried the goodmark fenders and so did FROST 89434. We spent hours trying to get them aligned, and they still look like SH*t. If you buy them make sure you can return them if they don't work. try to fit them before you paint them.........Good Luck.

We have only done 4 trucks so far, all 67-8s since the new tooling with only minor fit problems due to cab mount bushings. They were not Goodmarks. We have sold around 40 sets of 69-72 and have not heard any complaints from customers yet. Ours are 100% money back including shipping.

Mothertruckers-

Do you mean the the 67-68 fenders you used were not from Goodmark?

Or do you mean the minor fit problems weren't because of the Goodmark fenders?

Maybe I'm just reading your post wrong. I ask because I'm shopping for 67 fenders myself.

When did you try those Goodmarks? Do you know if they were the new ones that are thicker & heavier?...or the older ones that had been around for a few years?
When the last generation came out about 5 years ago everyone claimed how much better they were, and how much better they fit...but it wasn't long before the complaints started.
If so many are selling---who has fitted them...and what do you have to say? It seems like every time we discuss the repro sheet metal half of the guys love them and the other half hate them...i.e. the cowl hoods we have beat to death several times before. I never know what to tell people: "They are repro-they can't fit as well as original, but they are new & clean. They are the best alternative, if you can't find good originals".

I got my goodmark fenders about a year ago. They are the thicker ones. I've got both fenders, one door, and the cowl hood. None of them fit worth a crap. The curves are all wrong. I got huge gaps where there shouldn't be. And the door is the worst. I will never buy aftermarket junk again. I have spent more time ling up the new sheetmetal than what it would have taken me to fix the old stuff. Sorry for the rant but this subject really gets too me. And the guy I got the stuff from won't do a damn thing. JIM

The newly tooled zinc impregnated fenders became available around December last year from a supplier other than Goodmark we use, the prior non zinc 67-8 had some stamping problems in the lower front under the headlight that was corrected in the retooling. Since our switch of suppliers we have had no real fit problems if we put new cab and core mount kits in at the same time if they are worn, we have had alignment problems when using old worn mounts.

One of our Canadian parts suppliers claims the new tooling goodmarks are a "super fit" and basically an excellent repro. I guess I'm getting cynical but I find it hard to believe.
Thanks for the input everyone, I think I may give them a try.

It's going to be sometime before I get them on the truck but I'll give you my impressions when they arrive and I can compare with the originals I have.

I bought my goodmark crap in Dec 01. The problems I found was the curvature was wrong and the height was shorter. I put the fenders on top of each other and used a 3 plumb bobs so that I could align just one edge. That's when i found the the fender to be 1/4 inch shorter. By matching the left old fender with the right new fender....back end to back end....you could see the difference between the curves. The doors were just as bad....i measured the outside skin and it was off 3/16. If you don't want perfection...... buy goodmark.

My wife works at a bodyshop and several of her body guys came over to the house and looked at this problem of excessive large gaps behind the fenders. Only cause I was fighting with this problem for 3 months and the painter wouldn't paint the truck this way. As he knew I wouldn't be happy. I had already replaced the cab mounts. Hired one of the body guys to help me for a day. He recomended putting on oem. He was right.

Hey FROST89434

Frost: can you post a pic of you goodmark fender / doors and hood gap? Our Goodmark dealer went out of bussiness here in Reno, NV probally due to the lack of QUALITY products he was selling . If Goodmark can put the " GM " label on them....they should be the same. Hey, maybe one of our Goodmark dealers on the board can fly out and fix the problem...if not, refund the $$$$$$$$$
