custom 72 2 tone combos

Does anyone have any links to non factory 2 tone color combos? Dad and I are going to paint our 72 sbw stepside PPG candy apple red. I was thinkng of going with silver on the top of the hood, door from below the windows up incluing the top of the cab.

I thought I saw that Year One had a 67-72 project truck with the color scheme I am talking about... Here is their 67 Chevelle.

Re: custom 72 2 tone combos

The painter thought it needed a "stripe" to separate the colors, but we told him it wouldn;t work on the hood, since it is a haorizontal surface, not vertical like the cowl, doors and back of cab... I am starting to wonder about the two tone with the silver over red... I am thinking it would have been better with red over silver... or solid red...ARGH!!!

Re: custom 72 2 tone combos

I was watching Musclecar on Spike and they were painting a Mustang and mentioned that a dark color over a light color makes the vehicle appear lower....that is what we are going for...so...our light over dark would defeat the purpose...so...it looks like solid red....maybe we will figure in a silver stripe somewhere...Thanks for the input so far...

Re: custom 72 2 tone combos

If I ever do a two tone, I would do silver over black with about a 1" burgundy stripe as a divider.
