Re: z'ing a frame
just cut it between the trans cm and shock mount. I cut mine on an angle to push forward 1" while going up 3". I dont know the angle, cause I just layed it out on paper and transfered the points with a punch. Obveously the trans mount, steering shaft, core support mounts, brake and fuel lines, shift linkage, ect.... all have to be addressed.

Re: z'ing a frame
You will probably get some good advise soon. We have cut a few trucks and havent used the z method. I prefer to straight cut and reweld and then plate the frame. There are different methods some cut a diamond and weld it or you could box the frame as far as possible which will help rigidity.

Re: z'ing a frame
Cut at an angle. if you gut on 90s, all the force will be concentrated in the corners instead of being spread out across the welds. The PO of my '26 Zed it on 90s and the frame cracked.

Re: z'ing a frame
I would think it depends more on who did the welding than an angled cut vs. a straight/90° cut. Staggered or offset/'Z' cuts do offer more weld area vs a straight cut which would (could/should?) be better for a novice....
