Re: drop question

i would flip the axel and see what drop you get with the 3/4 leafs i think theres more leafs so i'm guessing at least 4" and just try to keep the drive shaft straight

Rock on, I started when I was 15, 3 years ago. You'll be surprised how much you'll learn from these cool trucks. Try some drop spindles

when you say keep the driveshaft sright, what do you mean? i cant have it perfectly inline with the axle, because it will vibrate.

Re: drop question

If you want to know exactly how much drop you get from an axle flip without removing any leafs you need to measure from the bottom of the axle tube to the top of the leaf spring then add 1/2 to 3/4 in to the measurement for the flip bracket. This will give you your exact drop, also measure the distance from the top of the spring to the bottom of the frame rail, then measure the axle tube diameter, add 1/2 to 3/4 in for the bracket, deduct this measurement from the spring to frame measurement and this will give you your suspension travel room. If you have less than 2in I would recommend a c-notch.

Re: drop question

On a 3/4 ton, flipping the rear would get around 7" of drop.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

It definitely can/does matter. One might have an issue; another may not.

Re: drop question

I had 3/4 ton springs in the back of mine and my back end came down 8.5" with a flip kit. I did remove a couple leafs though. I now have 4 plus the overload. My driveshaft was making al sorts of terrible banging noises after I dropped it. Had to install 4 degree shims but I should have used more. Still vibrates at low speed.

Exactly, you need to measure to get an accurate answer. Add 1/2 the diameter of the axle tube to the height of the spring pack & you'll be very close to the amount of drop.
