Motor Mounts
Has anyone used these motor mounts from Speedway?
It would be going on my 57 with a 283. Looking for all advice & opinions. Any advantage over the crossmember style (which also bolts in)... thanks, LDO.

Re: Motor Mounts
How often do you plan on dropping the oil pan? On almost every production rig you have to at least take the motor mounts loose and raise the engine to drop the pan so I think that is a moot point.
I've used the crossmember style of mounts in a couple of engine swaps and they work out real well and make for a very clean engine installation. They also add some needed strength to that area of the frame if you are removing the crossmember under the bellhousing. I've always welded them in but they can be bolted if that is what one wants to do. On my 292 install I am going to build my own mounts very similar to the Speedway mounts as it stands right now. The frame will be boxed for the suspension crossmember install so frame twisting in that area isn't an issue and I may put an upright brace up from the crossmember to the bracket. |
