1970 GMC 396/402ci big block Complete w/accesories.

I am pulling the big block out of my 1 owner 70' burb. I am swaping in an 07' 6.2L, I am not sure why though. The 396 runs so good it hard to get rid of it.

I purchased the truck about a year ago from AZ, it had 127,000 miles on it. Since i bought it I have put just over 10,000 miles on. I have not had one issue with it, it has been flawless. total miles 137,...

I drove it home to MI from AZ 2200 miles, and regularly go on 2+ hour drives up north with it. With 3.05 gears and a TH400 I get 15MPG consistantly.

This burns a little oil but does not show at the tail pipe.

When i bought the truck the PO had installed many new parts, he used it to go camping in the mountains, he sold it to get a 4x4.

Includes: carb distributer, wires, air cleaner, longtube headers(not rusty), waterpump, alternator, P/S pump, pulleys, brackets, fuel pump, A/C compressor, cooling fan, motor mounts and stands, flexplate, starter,.....

I am selling the TH400 also and can sell it together if you like.

I can ship this any where you like.

If you are close you can test drive it, the engine is not out but will be in a few weeks.

Asking $1000 obo

Too bad you can't keep the original motor stuffed under a work bench somewhere, in case you change your mind or sell the burb to someone looking for orginality.

Then again, it's hard to beat the advantages of the LS 6.2.

Jim thanks for coming through on the motor. I have been a little busy at work it may not ship out till near the end of the week.

the sub project is coming along nicely, the engine runs now. all thats left to drive it is master cylinder, steering column, and fuel tank.

I am sure if the deal did not work out for Dan Tippmann there are some circumstances we are not aware of. We have dealt with him on many occasions and he is one of the best guys I have ever known.

Dan does seem like a trust worthy guy, but the way he left it was not cool. no returned call, no email or message explaining the circumstances, no idea if he even still wanted the engine. I was even working with a friend who was heading his way to have the engine dropped off, so he would not have to make the drive.
All I got was a short voice mail that he was leaving and did not know when he was going to be back. I fully understand that things happen, and I am cool with that but at least the could have let me know where we stood. I have no hard feeling though. s**t happens and you deal with it.
