How to shorten a driveshaft...

My blazer needs a driveshaft. I found one that is long enough to be shortened. One end slips right into the trans. How do i measure total length? Is there a specific way to measure for an airbagged truck?

I know you need it at ride height with the full weight on the suspension. If your paying a shop to shorten it call and ask how they want it measured.

This is important advice, just ask Scoti. Make sure the shop gives you the guidelines of how it should be measured and write it down. Ask for the persons name that gave you the info, and write it down. Go over all the details twice when you drop it off, and write EVERYTHING down. Even with all that they still tried to avoid taking the blame when it was wrong for Scot. Be sure to write it down.

Re: How to shorten a driveshaft...

I thought I was being smart and took a grease pen and wrote "cut 3 5/8" on a driveshaft. I had written the dimensions on piece of paper so I knew what the yoke to yoke measurement should be. Got it back...too short and no way to prove it!
