Lowering and C-notch
Has any one lowered their 71-72 rear with a 4" coil and not used a c-notch. I know all the books and manufactures recommend a notch when lowering 4 or more but I was wondering if it is just a ploy to get you to buy more. Right now I am measuring 6" between the bottom of my bump stop and top of my axle so if I lower 4" I should have 2" of play. Would that be enough for travel without having the bump stops slam the axle? Also this may be a stupid question but is there a way to tell if your coils are stock or not? I would be really mad if I ordered a 3" coil and installed it only to see the truck drop 1"

What Cole said...
And you can cut your bump stops in half for a little more room... Dano

Re: Lowering and C-notch
i got 6 inch coils and a 1/2 inch block with no c-notch so a very well doubt you will need to c-notch with a 4 inch coil

Re: Lowering and C-notch
no need for a cnotch for anything under 6 inches of drop. I had six inch drop springs with no notch and it barely if ever bottomed out.

Measure on a flat surface from the ground to the wheel arch front and rear. That will give you a starting point. You can compare it to some finished rides on here. Post here to get some other input/comparisons... Most of the time stock springs have sagged at least an inch...

Re: Lowering and C-notch
Im going with a notch in mine only because im going with 6 to 7 inch drop . If i was only going 4 i would leave it alone.
