Question on a 1970 I'm thinking of buying

Ok,I have not posted in some time. I love these trucks and have always wanted one. In Dec of 2010 I bought a 72 short bed not running in rough shape for 50.00 with title, thats right 50.00. I sold it the next day for 800.00. It was going to be just too much of a project for me. Well, wednesday I found a 70 short bed in good condition, paints fair, minimal rust, straight body, interior is fair, tires are good. The motor is a 327 from a 68 camino with a 200R4 tranny out of a 88 monte carlo,373 gears. The motor was redone back in the mid 90's as well as the tranny and replaced the old v6. The truck hasn't been running since 2007. That really doesn't bother me,what bothers me is the guy wants three grand. He is pretty firm on the price. He said it use to be his daily driver till he moved out of the city, but since he moved out he drove it less and less and now its just sat. Is three grand too much, should I look for something else? I figured after going through everything, fuel system, carb, gas tank, fluids, flushing break lines etc. I would be a 1,000 into it. Whats everyones opinion?

Re: Question on a 1970 I'm thinking of buying

Let's see some pics of it if possible. Around here 3000 isn't a bad price for a complete short bed with clean title and no DMV fees. In fact if it runs, drives and stops then it's a pretty good price....for around here in Cali.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"
