Door Weatherstrip install?
I have a freshly painted and buffed cab with the doors hung and I am wondering............
1-Does the door weatherstripping go on the cab before the carpet and sill plates or after? 2-Where should I start and stop the ends of the weatherstripping? top, bottom, side??? 3-Should it be installed with weatherstripping adhesive? Thanks everybody!! |

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
1: It goes on after what you mentioned.
2: I would start and end in the middle at the bottom. That eliminates the very slight chance of water getting in the gap at the top and running down. 3: I don't think that needs weatherstripping adhesive there. Only when the weatherstripping is against a moving part, such as in a window track, should adhesive be used. Hope this helped!

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
What the dude above said. I bought my weatherstrip from classic parts, and it had a little smear of adhesive in it. You are in for a treat..this is one of the biggest bang for the buck improvements you will make.

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
I did this too, and I don't know if I did it proper... Should there be a gap at the bottom of the weather stripping ( where you start and finish)? After I installed mine the doors became "slam to close"... Nowhere for air to escape? Any ideas?

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
Give the slightest crack of a window when you close the door so the air can escape, and its very normal for the weatherstripping to need to be "broken in" because it will be much thicker than the old junk. As far as i know the gap is very normal too

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
I hope you are right about the new weatherstripping being MUCH thicker because I just installed it and the doors barely close. I have to push on them down below the door handle to get them shut. I'm hoping baking in the sun with the doors shut will squish them down some?

Re: Door Weatherstrip install?
Maybe adjust door stiker out ever so slightly? Until they get broke in?
