I need information!
I'm looking at a 1957 1.5 ton truck. It has six lug wheels and is in fairly good shape. I thought the wheel pattern would be 10 lug but guess not. Is there a disk brake set up to modernize this truck with? How reliable are the two speed rear diffs that came with the truck? What are the main issues with these old farm trucks other than rust? Thanks for the help!

Re: I need information!
I doubt that there is any sort of disk brake conversion for that setup. As Blackdiesel said, they are not speed demons in the least. They will run 50/55 all day and haul a serious load but don't plan on getting there in a hurry.
I'm still thinking about putting mid 70's one ton running gear under my 51 1-1/2 ton to get independent front suspension, hopefully lower the truck about five or six inches and in the end have something I can turn into a ramp truck or put a chassis mount camper on the back of. |
