I'll be starting on the roof, sides and back of the cab tonight. I still need to pick up some high build primer. The firewall looks pretty good in the pics but it will need some blocking to get it smooth.

firewall looks great. Ive heard that POR15 will chalk up if exposed to light if not top coated.

I have heard the exact same thing. I really want to get some lizard skin on the bottom of the floor before I paint the cab. I just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Money is pretty tight on the build too.

Yes, I have been looking at this thread a little and other threads at different sites. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do? I would really like to coat that Por-15 with something. Worst case, I could just paint it but I would like to insulate it with something.

I am still waiting to use your TIG welding the broken bolt trick, just have not broken any bolt since you posted it way back on page 21.

Nice progress Mike.

I read those other threads on the home made lizard skin a while back. Seems like a good idea.

I considered mixing the micro sphere material with a roll on bed liner material and using it as an undercoating. This would allow you to also line the inside of the cab with traditional sound mat type products too.

Doing it this way would also take care of your under cab POR-15 top coat problem too.

Thanks Mike. It has been a long drawn out build for sure. That bolt trick works great especially where you have it broken in aluminum. Steel is so so and stainless well...not so good because galling.

I'm still deciding on what to use. I really want something durable but looks decent too. I think the roll on liner would look pretty good. I wonder how those little spheres would mix with the liners? Anyone tried it you know of?

That's it. I put it down in the cab it seems real durable from scuffs and it goes on with brush or spray. I brushed it being lazy not wanting to mask everything for the hundreth time... But really it seams like a nice product and it goes on blue and dries dull black.

Not that I know of but I'm going to give it a try this summer after I get the heavy fabrication & rust repair done.

You can be my guinea pig for this idea if you want to give it a try

Walmart sells the rustolem roll on bedliner material pretty cheap. $45 for a gallon. I'm thinking of using it in the cab of my 4x4 project in place of carpet so I can hose it out after a day in the mud.

your firewall looks killer. you do some excellent sheet metal work. sometimes when i'm working on my truck, i'll think, that's good enough. until i look at others builds and see how much better they are, then i'm like, oh no i need to step up my game.
evercoat glaze is what i use. it mixes and applies just like body filler, you can fill in small pin holes or apply it over everything. i get it at H & H Supply on nw 39th expressway near meridian on the south side of the road. i'll post of pics in my build when i start using it.

I regret not patching my a/c holes like you did, I ended up with some warpage when I welded the one piece patch. Thanks for the tip on the glaze. I will get some next week.

I plan on using duplicolor roll on bedliner on the bottom and inside of my cab. My Dad used it on his 40 pickup and it has worked out great for him.
