No problems taking it off and having it and the battery retested. Could be since something isn't working right, I've killed the battery.

I might try the jump anyhow, just to see if I can make her give me all she's got. Right now all I can get out of her is a measley 12v

Thanks for the all the replies and certainly pics help out too

I'll probably pick up a regulator while at the parts store getting eveything checked out. Just want to make sure it'll crank before I let him take it to school or around town.

Re: So I'm on my 2nd battery...but why?

Alot of ya'll have helped out here so I wanted to let ya'll know where were at...

Took the voltage regulator off and it looked pretty new. Called the guy up and he said he replaced it before we bought it.

Wires coming from the alternator and a couple on the regulator just pulled out. Don't even know if they were connected very good.

But this is where it got interesting. I pulled the wires and labeled them. Then came and looked at the wiring diagram and the big wire that is supposed to be in number 3 was in number 2 and the wire from the alternator was in the wrong spot too. Also, there was some sort of capacitor wired to the bottom of the regulator. Looked like it was supposed to be there on account there was a bracket and screw holding it on.

Got dark on me so tomorrow I'm going to put some new connectors on, hook it back up, the right way, and see what happens.

Very much appreciated for the help so far!

Troy
